charmed
just a few morning journaling notes from today, to give you a window into life in a small Catalan village. as in seven or eight hundred people small. bastante small- and plenty charming.
it is a lovely, just slightly chilly morning, enough that socks are required. today is market day, so i am heading to the market in about half an hour to buy some figs and other fruit, some tomatoes, and we will see what else they have this week. i am trying to beat the crowd, which means i have to show up at 8am, right when they open. the announcement from the ajuntament that the market is opens happens at 9, so if i can beat the announcement, i should be good. after the market, i will walk over to the bakery, and perhaps stop by nuria, the everything store, to get envelopes and hopefully stamps so i can send out our overseas voting registration. it’s an errands and cleaning day, nothing special, nothing big…but i love the goodness of the simple things here. i love that it’s fig season. i love that i walk around the village to get various things. i love that everyone will say “bon dia” when i enter a store, and everyone will say “adeu” when i am leaving. i know that things will slow down and get quieter in the winter; it won’t always be this charming i am sure, the everyday existence of it all. but i sure am charmed today.
i sure am charmed.
That simple rhythm of life. Looking forward to experiencing it again!
